Madigan Soldiers honored and recognized for exemplary service

On 5 July Col. Hope M. Williamson-Younce honored and recognized 3 Soldiers in Madigan Army Medical Center Soldier Recovery Unit. SGT Christian Blackburn, SGT Hwan Lee and SPC Iris Chavez received the Army Achievement Medal for exemplary service. SGT Bianca Hayden competed in the 2024 Department of Defense Warrior Games against more than 200 athletes and earned an astounding 7 medals: five medals in swimming (3 x gold, 1 x silver, and 1 x bronze), one silver medal in discus, and one silver medal in shot put. Join us in congratulating these Soldiers for their great achievements! Madigan welcomes 27 American Red Cross Summer Youth Program Volunteers

Last week Madigan Army Medical Center welcomed the 27 volunteers from the American Red Cross Summer Youth Program! They come in one day per week for the summer to volunteer. The students involved are military family members and others from around our community who aspire to learn more about healthcare and career opportunities. This program is a great opportunity for everyone involved and promotes a positive influence in our community! Our Madigan team also appreciated having the additional volunteer support throughout the week. Thank you for volunteering and we welcome you here!

Madigan earns The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™

Madigan Army Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the organization’s performance standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. Today we celebrated the achievements of the hospital and the staff that made this possible. Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Thank you Team Madigan for all of the hard work you did in making this amazing achievement!

Stream Madigan's Healthcare Professionals Graduation Ceremony Class of 2024

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wa. (June 14, 2024) – Madigan Army Medical Center celebrated the graduation of its 2024 graduate medical education class. The class consisted of 99 interns, residents and fellows from 23 different programs. Retired Gen. James Mattis was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. The graduates will now move on to the next step in their Army careers and provide support and care for servicemembers across the globe. Madigan OB/GYN Residency scored the highest in the United States!

The Madigan Army Medical Center Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency scored the highest in the United States on the 2024 Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) In-Service Training Examination. The Madigan program scored #1 of 291 OB/GYN residency programs (civilian and military) nationwide! The program’s mean equated correct score was 73 compared to the national mean score of 66. Additionally, six residents scored above the 90th percentile. OB/GYN is a four-year residency focused on women’s health and surgical care. The Madigan OB/GYN residency has 16 residents and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). It is one of five OB/GYN residency programs within the U.S. Army.

Madigan Grand Re-opening of the Lewis Main Exchange Refill-Pharmacy

Day 1 refill service to 140 patients with an impressive average wait time of five minutes from door to prescription. On 16 April 2024, Madigan Army Medical Center and the JBLM Community championed the Grand Re-opening of the Lewis Main Exchange Refill-Pharmacy with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This refill-only dispensing center at the PX will increase access to care and serve as the primary method of obtaining refill prescriptions for the JBLM Community. The PX site will decrease the current refill turn-around time by 50%, while allowing the Main Hospital Pharmacy to increase its capacity to serve outpatients. Madigan’s Commander, Col. Hope M. Williamson-Younce, delivered a keynote speech praising the Department of Pharmacy’s vision, innovation, courage, and transformation efforts to keep our sacred responsibility of care to our Service Members, Veterans, and their Families.
