The Madigan General Pediatrics Clinic is located on the first floor of the medical mall in Madigan Army Medical Center.

About

Opened on February 28, 1992, Madigan Army Medical Center is a 1.2 million square foot complex that was the newest and most modern military treatment facility in the Department of Defense and boasted state-of-the-art technology in clinical and administrative areas. To this day, Madigan remains a leader as a top-of-the-line medical center for Army Medicine.

Madigan is committed to ensuring we provide timely access to medical care for all of our pediatric patients. Madigan's Pediatric clinic has returned to near normal scheduling practices.

  • Newborn care remains unchanged.  We are seeing newborns for their first clinic visit at 2-5 days of life and 2 weeks of life.  If your infant was born off post, please call the clinic to schedule the first appointment at (253) 968-3066, option #4.  All infants born at Madigan are scheduled follow up clinic visits at the time of inpatient discharge.
  • We are seeing well babies for all recommended visits face to face.  These visits are at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months and 18 months. You will receive a call the day prior to your visit to discuss your child’s health.  Please call to re-schedule the appointment if you or your child is ill. Well baby appointments can be scheduled using the Puget Sound Military Appointing Center at (800) 404-4506.
  • We have resumed all 2 to 17 year old well physicals/sports physicals.  Children need 1 physical per year. If your child has been seen in the last 1 year, we will complete your child’s paperwork without an appointment.  You may send in paperwork via the MHS Genesis Patient Portal.  Please make sure to complete the parent portion first.  If your child is due for a physical and immunizations, they will be done at the same appointment.  Please call the clinic directly to schedule these visits at (253) 968-3066, option #4.
  • Immunization visits are available 4 days a week.  Immunization only nurse visits are available for any aged child whom needs vaccinations.  Please bring your child’s immunization record to this visit. Please call the clinic directly to schedule these visits at (253) 968-3066, option #4.
  • Sick visits:  There are multiple ways for your child to receive care when they are ill.  First, you may call the Nurse Advice Line to speak with a nurse 24 hours a day.  Second, you may call the clinic and speak with one of our Pediatric Registered Nurses who can determine if your child needs to be seen face to face, virtually or simply receive nursing guidance.  You may be asked to take your symptomatic child to the COVID tent for screening prior to the visit.  Thank you for helping prevent the spread of COVID and keep other pediatric patients and our staff healthy!
  • Pre-screening: The Madigan Pediatric clinic is carefully pre-screening all children and their families whom need care in the clinic.  Families will be asked a series of screening questions before the appointment is scheduled, the day prior to the appointment and at check in for the appointment.  If anyone in the household is ill or in quarantine status, please call the clinic prior to arrival for your child’s appointment to determine the best way to care for your child.  We have many ways to care for your child while maintaining a safe environment for all infants, children and staff in our clinic.
  • The Madigan Pediatric Clinic has COVID 19 vaccines available for ages 12 years and up who are enrolled to Madigan Pediatric Clinic.  Parents should call the Pediatric Clinic directly at (253) 968-3066, option #4, to schedule a COVID immunization appointment.  If your child aged 12 and up is already scheduled for a well or sick visit, your child can receive the COVID vaccine at this appointment and a separate COVID immunization appointment is not necessary.
Please call the Pediatric Clinic at 253-968-3066 option #4 to speak with the Pediatric Clinic Directly.
You may also message your clinic team directly using the MHS Genesis Patient Portal.  Visit our MHS GENESIS page to learn more.

HealthySteps Program

On behalf of the Secretary of Defense, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) has implemented the HealthySteps program in pilot site pediatric clinics.  As a participating site, we would like to share a new service available to parents or legal guardians of children enrolled at our clinic called HealthySteps.

The HealthySteps program provides early childhood development support to families where they are most likely to access it – the military pediatric primary care clinic.  As an integral part of the pediatric team, HealthySteps Specialists bring focus to the important interwoven skills needed for families to foster healthy child development and life-long well-being: social-emotional development; language and literacy skills; cognition skills; and perceptual, motor, and physical development.  HealthySteps Specialists build strong relationships with families and providers so that communities can ensure all babies have a strong start during this critically important time in their life.

The HealthySteps program offers added support during your well-baby visit to answer questions you may have about taking care of your baby and to help you access additional resources that may be helpful to you through the Defense Health Agency or through DoD Military Community and Family Policy support programs such as Military OneSource.

If you are interested in additional information, please ask the pediatric staff offering services to your child (ages 0-3) about the HealthySteps program.
