Colonel Hope M. Williamson-Younce

Colonel Hope M. Williamson-Younce assumed the dual duties as the director of the Puget Sound Military Health System and as the commander of Madigan Army Medical Center on Aug. 4, 2023. She previously served as the interim corps chief of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, in Falls Church, Va.
Colonel Williamson-Younce began her service in 1983 as a private and achieved the enlisted rank of staff sergeant with deployment to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm before selection to the Army Enlisted Commissioning Program. She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing as the distinguished honor graduate from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., before commissioning as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps. She has a master of science dual degree in nursing as an acute care nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist in trauma, emergency and critical care from the University of Maryland. She has a master’s in strategic studies and is a graduate of the Army War College. She earned her doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla.

Colonel Williamson-Younce is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist and certified emergency nurse. She was awarded The Surgeon General’s “9A” proficiency designator and is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
Command Sergeant Major Gilberto Colon
Command Sergeant Major of Madigan Army Medical Center
Command Sergeant Major Gilberto Colon assumed responsibilities as the Madigan Army Medical Center command sergeant major on June 20, 2023. His previous assignment was as the command sergeant major of the 32nd Medical Brigade at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
Command Sergeant Major Colon is a native of Bronx, N.Y.; after graduating high school he attended the University of Turabo, Gurabo, Puerto Rico. He joined the Puerto Rico National Guard on January 1995 and served with it until Dec. 1997. After completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he was assigned to Delta Company, 187th Medical Battalion where he completed his advanced individual training as a 91EN5 (dental laboratory specialist). He reclassified into a 91W (healthcare specialist), where he completed his medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He had been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III while assigned to a field artillery unit of the 3rd Infantry Division. He also deployed to Iraq as the medical advisor to a military transition team.
