Colonel Hope M. Williamson-Younce

Col. Hope M. Williamson-Younce assumed the dual duties as the director of the Puget Sound Military Health System and as the commander of Madigan Army Medical Center on Aug. 4, 2023. She previously served as the interim corps chief of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, in Falls Church, Va.
Col. Williamson-Younce began her service in 1983 as a private and achieved the rank of staff sergeant, with deployment to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, before selection to the Army Enlisted Commissioning Program. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing as the distinguished honor graduate from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., before commissioning in the Army Nurse Corps. She has a Master of Science dual degree in nursing as an acute care nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist in trauma, emergency and critical care from the University of Maryland. She has a master’s degree in strategic studies and is a graduate of the Army War College. She earned her doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla.

Command Sgt. Maj. Gary D. Petty is a native of Merritt Island, Florida. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 22, 1997 in the delayed entry program as a Combat Medic. He shipped to basic training on July 08, 1997 to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston. He later returned to Fort Sam in January 1999 to become an Eye Specialist.
Command Sgt. Maj. Petty served in every leadership position from squad leader to Command Sergeant Major. His positions include NCOIC Optometry/Ophthalmology Clinic, NCOIC Internal Medicine Clinic, NCOIC Troop Medical Clinic, NCOIC Department of Medicine, Division Military Transition Team Advisor, Company Operations NCO, MEDCEN Senior Operations NCO, Regional Medical Command Senior Operations NCO, Division Surgeon Senior Operations NCO, BSB First Sergeant, MEDCEN First Sergeant, a Chief Clinical Sergeant Major, and Battalion CSM.

CSM Petty’s deployments include Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan with the 249th General Hospital in support of Operations Enduring Freedom. 6th Iraqi Army Division MTT, 1st Calvary Division in Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
