Colonel James "Jimmy" Watts

Colonel James “Jimmy” Watts began his Army career in 1998 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy. Following graduation, he attended the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine and completed his Graduate Medical Education at Madigan Army Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board-certified in Cardiovascular Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Colonel Watts is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and the Carlisle Scholars Program.

His most recent assignment was as the Assistant Deputy for Health Affairs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Other previous assignments include: Commander, USAMEDDAC-Alaska; Consultant to the Surgeon General for Cardiovascular Medicine; Command Surgeon at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center; Senior Medical Observer/Trainer (OC/T) for the Mission Command Training Program; Division Surgeon, 3rd Infantry Division; Cardiology Service Chief at Brooke Army Medical Center; Associate Program Director, General Cardiology Fellowship, SAUSHEC; Medical Services Chief, 47th CSH (FWD) during OPERATION NEW DAWN; and Chief of the Internal Medicine Clinic, Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital.

Colonel Watts’ awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, the Basic Parachutist Badge, and the Surgeon General’s “A” Proficiency Designator.

Colonel Watts is married to Mrs. April Watts and has three children, Peyton, James, and Brad.






Command Sergeant Major Gary D. Petty

Command Sgt. Maj. Gary D. Petty is a native of Merritt Island, Florida. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 22, 1997 in the delayed entry program as a Combat Medic. He shipped to basic training on July 08, 1997 to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston. He later returned to Fort Sam in January 1999 to become an Eye Specialist.

Command Sgt. Maj. Petty served in every leadership position from squad leader to Command Sergeant Major. His positions include NCOIC Optometry/Ophthalmology Clinic, NCOIC Internal Medicine Clinic, NCOIC Troop Medical Clinic, NCOIC Department of Medicine, Division Military Transition Team Advisor, Company Operations NCO, MEDCEN Senior Operations NCO, Regional Medical Command Senior Operations NCO, Division Surgeon Senior Operations NCO, BSB First Sergeant, MEDCEN First Sergeant, a Chief Clinical Sergeant Major, and Battalion CSM.

Command Sgt. Maj. Petty’s stateside assignments include Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center and 249th General Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade Fort Eisenhower, Georgia; Womack Army Medical Center Fort Liberty, North Carolina; NCOLCoE, Fort Bliss, Texas. His overseas assignments include 168th Medical Battalion (AS) Pusan, Korea; USA MEDDAC Wurzburg, Germany; 225 BSB and HHBN 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 519th Hospital Center, 30th Medical Brigade Sembach, Germany. CSM Petty’s deployments include Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan with the 249th General Hospital in support of Operations Enduring Freedom. 6th Iraqi Army Division MTT, 1st Calvary Division in Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Command Sgt. Maj. Petty’s military education includes the Basic Leader Course; Advanced Leader Course; Senior Leader Course; Sergeant’s Major Course, Class 69; Health Care Administrator’s Course; Master Resilience Trainer Course; Advanced Military Transition Team Course; Battle Staff NCO Course; Total Army Instructor/Trainer Course; Common Faculty Development Instructor Course. CSM Petty’s civilian education includes an Associate of Arts Degree in Health Care Administration with the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development with the Command and General Staff College, a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with Excelsior University, and a Master of Science in Management with concentration in Organizational Leadership from Excelsior University.

Command Sgt. Maj. Petty’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (6 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (1 OLC), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (9th award), the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Order of Military Medical Merit Medallion, the Sergeant Morales Club Medallion and the Expert Field Medical Badge to name a few.

Command Sgt. Maj. Petty previously served as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell. Kentucky. He is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Angela Petty of 21 years. They have two children, daughter Anani (13) and son Micah (7).
