Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Services
TRICARE doesn’t cover ART services. This includes IUI, IVF, cryopreservation, etc.
Are you a service member or eligible beneficiary who is looking for ART services? You may be able to get them at certain military hospitals through Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility programs at OBGYN Graduate Medical Education locations. You can access ART services through these programs at a greatly reduced cost here at Madigan and the military hospitals listed below:
Did you incur a serious or severe illness or injury on active duty?
ART services are also available through the extended benefits authorized under the Supplemental Health Care Program. This is if you:
- Are a service member (male or female),
- Are on active duty, and
- Incurred a serious or severe illness or injury while on active duty (Category II or III). Your illness or injury must lead to your inability to procreate without the use of ART services.
Do you meet these criteria? Then the following services may be available to you at no costs.
- Sperm retrieval
- Egg retrieval
- In-vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
- Blastocyst implantation
- Cryopreservation and storage of embryos
Do you get care or medication in the civilian network? If so, you must use participating network providers, if available. You must get pre-authorization for these services.
Your prescriptions may be covered, check the TRICARE Formulary.
