Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Barrientos

Commander, JBLM Soldier Readiness Unit

Lt. Col. Brenda Barrientos assumed command of the Soldier Recovery Unit on Oct. 30, 2024.

Lt. Col. Barrientos is a native of Houston, Texas. She is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering management. She also holds a Master of Science degree in technology management from the University of Maryland University College and a Master of Business Administration from San Francisco State University. Lt. Col. Barrientos was commissioned into the United States Army as a second lieutenant on May 31, 2008.

After completing the Basic Officer Leader and the Signal Basic Officer Leader courses, Lt. Col. Barrientos was assigned to Alpha Company, Special Troops Battalion, 15th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Cavazos, Texas. There, she served as a platoon leader and deployed to Iraq in 2009 as the Company Executive Officer. Upon redeployment, she worked as the S-3 for the STB and was part of the unit’s Base Realignment and Closure move to Fort Bliss, Texas.

Lt. Col. Barrientos was then assigned to 3rd IBCT, 1st Armored Division, where she served as the Brigade Assistant S-6 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. Upon redeployment, she served as the S-6 for 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry. In 2013, Lt. Col. Barrientos left active duty and joined the U.S. Army Reserve, assigned to the 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). With the 4th ESC, she deployed to Qatar and Kuwait as the Knowledge Management Officer and served 16 months overseas. In 2018, Lt. Col. Barrientos was assigned to the 91st Training Division and served as the Deputy G-6 in Camp Parks, Calif. While there, Lt. Col. Barrientos also served as the primary signal planner for the Combat Support Training Exercise held annually at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. In her most recent assignment, Lt. Col. Barrientos served as the Deputy G-6 for the 63rd Readiness Division at Moffett Field, Calif. She is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. Outside the military, Lt. Col. Barrientos is a Project Manager for the General Services Administration in Sacramento, Calif.

Lt. Col. Barrientos’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (1 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).

 

Command Sergeant Major Tresha D. Jeter

Command Sgt. Maj. Tresha D. Jeter assumed responsibilities as the Soldier Recovery Unit Command Sergeant Major on Aug. 7, 2024.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jeter is a native of Spartanburg, S.C. She is a graduate of Spartanburg High School and entered the Army on Sept. 24, 1998, where she attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training as a Financial Management Technician, both at Fort Jackson, S.C. Command Sgt. Maj. Jeter’s assignments include duties as travel clerk, Detachment C, 176th Finance Battalion, Camp Henry, Korea; Military Pay Clerk, Company A, 3rd Soldier Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Ga., and the Defense Military Pay Office, Fort Eisenhower, Ga.; In- and Out-Processing Clerk, Group Enlisted Aide/NCO, Disbursing Agent and Training NCO, 13th Finance Group, Fort Cavazos, Texas; DIMHRS Master Trainer, Senior Finance NCOIC, and Congressional SACO, U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Alexandria, Va.; Assistant Inspector General, USARCENT IG, Shaw AFB, S.C.; Senior Financial Advisor and Classified Deputy Disbursing Officer, US Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB, Fla.; Financial Management Inspector, 125th Financial Management Support Unit, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii;  Financial Management Advisor to the USARCENT G-8, Shaw AFB, S.C.; Senior Enlisted Advisor, 24th Financial Management Support Unit, Fort Stewart, Ga.; and most recently, the G-8/Comptroller Sergeant Major, USARCENT G-8, Shaw AFB, S.C. Command Sgt. Maj. Jeter’s deployments include Kuwait and Iraq, 2006-2007, Kuwait 2011-2012, and many missions to Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Egypt. Command Sgt. Maj. Jeter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/finance from Trident University. She is actively pursuing her master’s in business administration/finance from Columbia Southern University.
