In Processing Procedures

All in-bound Madigan Soldiers should contact their sponsor prior to departing their current duty station, and again upon arrival at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Sponsors are to help guide, facilitate, and track complete, efficient, and timely in-processing.

Upon arrival to JBLM, Soldiers must sign in off of leave at the JBLM Waller Hall Welcome Center, Bldg 2140, Liggett Avenue, Lewis Main, on JBLM. Waller Hall is open for arriving and departing Soldiers 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Blocks 16a, 16b and 16c of the PCS Leave Form, DA Form 31, will be completed for the date and time of the Soldier's return from Leave. Waller Hall will keep copies of the DA 31 and initiate the Soldiers In-processing to JBLM. Soldiers must retain a copy of their DA Form 31 for turn in during Madigan in-processing.

Soldiers will begin base in-processing on the first duty day after arrival.

After receiving in processing checklists from the base, Soldiers will report:

  • With orders to Madigan to the Troop Battalion’s Military Personnel Division (MPD). MPD is located in Building 9900 on Lincoln Avenue in the Madigan Annex.
  • With orders to the Soldier Recovery Unit, Soldiers will report directly to the Soldier Recovery Unit Headquarters located in Building 9059 along Gardner Loop Road.

In order to maximize efficiency, Soldiers should in-process at the Troop Battalion or the Soldier Recovery Unit concurrently with base in-processing.

If a Soldier and their Family require military quarters, MPD will connect you to the correct point of contact (POC) for lodging.

It typically takes 3-5 days to in-process installation. Soldiers will be provided five duty days to complete the Madigan in-processing checklist. Procedures and guidance for in-processing is provided on the checklist.

In-processing Soldiers who request Permissive TDY (PTDY) for house hunting will in-process the Madigan MPD, their assigned company, and their duty section before signing out on PTDY. This ensures the soldier’s chain of responsibility are informed and in support.

Soldiers will not to be placed on work schedules until in-processing is completed in their unit. New Soldiers will then be scheduled for the next available two day New Employee Orientation, or NEO, usually held at the first of every month.
