Addiction Medicine Intensive Outpatient & Partial Hospitalization Program

About Us

Addiction Medicine services use American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria for the treatment of addictive, substance-related, and co-occurring conditions. Two levels of care are available to active duty service members, ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program and ASAM Level 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program. Level 2.1/ IOP consists of a combination of group and individual therapy for a minimum of 9 hours per week. Level 2.5/PHP offers additional care with group and individual therapy for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

The assessment and treatment process begins with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and rating of risk for six dimensions which are used for determining the appropriate level of care, service planning, and treatment. The six dimensions include: 1) acute intoxication and/or withdrawal potential, 2) biomedical conditions and complications, 3) emotional, behavioral, or cognitive conditions and complications, 4) readiness to change, 5) relapse, continued use, or continued problem potential, and 6) recovery/living environment.

How to Receive Services

Entry into the AMPHP begins with enrollment service specific ASAM Level 1 Outpatient Programs such as Army SUDCC, Navy SARP, Air Force ADAPT, and Marine Corps SACC. If the provider in your Level 1 Outpatient Program identifies a need, they will submit a referral through the electronic health record system. Assessments are booked as soon as possible or usually within two business days from receipt of the referral. Please inquire with your Level I Outpatient Program provider whether a referral was placed for you so we can connect with you in a timely manner.
