The Department of Clinical Investigation (DCI) business cell supports Madigan Army Medical Center's learners and staff by providing administrative assistance to navigate funding, grant submissions, review budgets and logistics associated with the success of research studies. The business cell facilitates the researchers engagement in intellectually rigorous, safe, and ethical conduct of research.

Our team consists of multiple professionals that provide administrative support for the successful execution of research and scholarly activities. Staff members include Chief of Strategic Outreach Service, department administrative officer, grants manager, clinical research associate, and research informatician.
The Business Cell assists with funding, technology transfer, research informatics, and clearance. These services are provided to investigators to facilitate their research.
The Clinical Research Associate identifies intramural and extramural grant opportunities for Madigan investigators, supports grant submissions, and provides post award monitoring for successful execution.
The Grants & Agreements Manager facilitates the appropriate agreements with non- federal collaborators. Example agreements include: cooperative research and development agreements, material transfer agreements, statement of work, intellectual property agreements, patent licensing agreements, and personnel exchange.
The Research Informatician advances and advises on automation technology tools and data resources by leveraging tools to support visual analytics, dashboards, data mining, informed decisions, and other capabilities such as collaborative data metrics and Microsoft Office integration.
The Administrative Officer functions as the primary administrative point of contact on workload, personnel, equipment, contracting, and budgetary resource data. They advise on intramural financing of projects, manages the clearance of publications and presentations.
