OB/GYN Changes In Response To The COVID-19 Pandemic:
In accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the nation’s leading public health institute, Madigan is taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of exposure for our patients and staff to the COVID-19 virus. In addition to preventive measures taken throughout the hospital, Madigan’s OB/GYN clinic has reduced in-person appointments and as an alternative will utilize telephone appointments for many of our patients.
Labs: We are also now doing all pregnancy related labs in our clinic. Our patients can view lab results in the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. Patients should report the clinic front desk to check in for lab work rather than going to Madigan’s main lab. Please note, glucose labs specifically, can be conducted no later than 2:00p.m.
Effective FEB 1, 2021 - OB/GYN Changes To Provide Improved Care:
All active duty and dependent patients seeking Obstetrics (pregnancies) or Gynecology (Well-Woman exams, PAP smears, contraception) care will need to contact their Primary Care Manager for a referral. Having a referral helps us improve access to care and ensure patient needs are met in a timely manner either at Madigan OBGYN or with our network providers. Active duty patients remain the highest priority for care at Madigan OBGYN, and will be deferred to the network in extenuating circumstances.
For response about your pregnancy concern:
- Patients who have already been referred to the clinic can typically get a response within 3 business days about pregnancy or gynecologic concerns by Secure Messaging Madigan’s OB Clinic within the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal at "JBLM Madigan_OB/GYN Messages". For OB patients who need a same day appointment, virtual appointments are offered every morning with a nurse practitioner. These can be booked by calling Puget Sound Military Appointment Center: at 1-800-404-4506. In addition, patients can all the MHS Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-874-2273 at any time 24/7 to talk with a nurse.
Non-pregnancy related medical concerns:
OB patients who have non-pregnancy related needs (earaches, sprained ankle, etc.) should contact their PCM, or utilize an off-base Urgent Care Center for their acute non-obstetric appointment needs.
