About
Military families deal with a lot of transitions, which can be especially tough for dependents with special needs. The Department of War's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) exists to ensure dependents with special medical and/or educational needs get the care and services they require.
EFMP has two main components:
- Medical EFMP - at Madigan: Handles medical and educational EFMP enrollments, updates, and overseas screenings (Family MemberTravel Screening)
- Family Support (ACS) - at Wailer Hall: Helps EFMP families find resources, set goals, and connect with schools, CYS, and local programs
Medical and Educational EFMP Enrollments and Updates
EFMP enrollment is required for dependents with certain medical or educational needs. To get started on an enrollment or update, access the Enterprise EFMP website to initiate an EFMP enrollment package. Once the initial package is submitted, the Soldier will be contacted with further instructions. The "System Training" button on the E-EFMP homepage has helpful guides for Soldiers and their family members as they navigate the website.
Family Member Travel Screening
If a Soldier has an assignment to an OCONUS (Outside of the Continental US) location and hopes to bring their family, the family will be required to undergo a Family Member Travel
Screening (FMTS). This is mandatory for all traveling family members, regardless of EFMP enrollment status.
Once the Soldier has a draft assignment populated in IPPS-A, they should navigate to the E- EFMP website ( ttpsiLLeImJ2a_cmy,mllLimQm9) to initiate an FMTS package. Once the
initial package is submitted, the Soldier will be contacted with further instructions.
