Improving the first moments of life: Madigan expands Mother/Baby – Unit

Madigan Army Medical Center has been in its current location on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., since 1992. In the three decades since its opening, the Maternal Child Health – commonly referred to as the Mother/Baby – Unit, has welcomed a lot of Army “brats” into the world. The new digs the unit is opening this week are nicer than ever. Years of planning and nearly two years of remodeling have repurposed old patient rooms on the third floor of the hospital tower that had been used as offices for years. Now, they are bright and homey patient rooms.

TRICARE-Authorized Urgent Care Center (UCC) Access!

Patients who use TRICARE Prime, or any other TRICARE plan, may visit any TRICARE-authorized network UCC for urgent care. Active duty personnel are not authorized urgent care clinic visits without a referral. Patients may find more convenience, shorter wait times and improved accessibility when visiting a UCC in the local community for non-emergency illness or injury requiring treatment within 24 hours. About The COVID-19 Vaccine

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under Emergency Use Authorization has authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine will be given in a two-dose series separated by 21 days. Vaccines from different manufacturers will NOT be interchangeable. The vaccine recipient must receive the same vaccine for both doses. Talk to your provider to ensure you get the right dose at the right time.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Scheduling A Screening At Madigan

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, making breast cancer the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide. Yet breast cancer also has one of the highest survival rates, largely thanks to early detection services such as screening mammograms. Madigan Patients can call to schedule or stop by the Mammography section in Radiology for screening. A referral /order from PCM  is not needed.
