About
The Division of Adolescent Medicine is staffed by doctors, resident physicians, nurses and support staff who enjoy to work with teenagers and young adults. We offer routine primary care in our teen centered medical home to enrolled adolescents at both a hospital based and several local school based locations.
The health centers provide:
- Behavioral Health Screening and Counseling
- Comprehensive Well Woman Services
- Diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses/injuries
- Immunizations
- Nutrition and weight counseling
- Pharmacy and laboratory services
- Referral for Specialty Care
- School/sports physical exams
- Treatment of asthma, anemia, acne, and other health problems
We provide confidential services for most issues including:
- Behavioral health
- Birth control
- Pregnancy testing
- Questions you may have about your body
- Sexuality
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment
- Substance use
Confidential means that we respect your privacy and that you do not need to have a parent present to receive care from us for these issues. If we are concerned about your safety, however, we will work with you to ensure that you are safe. We abide by Washington state laws regarding rights to confidentiality for teenagers and young adults based on the type of concern. Minors have legal rights to confidential services for topics such as STI care, contraceptive services, and mental health care as young as 13 years old. Walk-In Services:
- Influenza vaccines (seasonal)
- Pregnancy testing
- Sexually Transmitted Infection diagnoses and treatment
- Strep throat testing for ages 2 years and above
- Suture/Staple removal
- Wart cryotherapy (freezing)
Consult Services
We also see young people for adolescent issues that their doctor’s office may not routinely treat. The kinds of things we provide subspecialty care for are:
- Eating disorders
- Gender identity concerns
- Hormone problems
- Menstrual problems of all kinds
- Sexuality issues
- Sports injuries including concussion management
- Substance Use/Abuse Issues

Madigan's School Based Health Clinics
Madigan’s School Based Health Clinics are comprehensive, primary care centers located within a school. The clinics are staffed one or two half days per week at each school with one nurse practitioner and one LPN. The program has a medical director who is board certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine to provide oversight and consultation.
